Good afternoon, My apologies for the delay in getting this listserv started. The platform we're using had some options for mass subscriptions that I didn't understand, which caused prior attempts to fail. Thanks to the intervention of our helpdesk, you should now be able to email libtech@pld.apls.state.al.us<mailto:libtech@pld.apls.state.al.us> to post to the list. By way of getting things rolling, I am curious about the use of AI in libraries: * Does your library use AI? If so, for what tasks? * Does your library have policies covering staff and/or patron use of AI in the library? * What should a policy for staff and patron use of AI include? I think it would be helpful to collect examples of uses and policies for sharing with others. APLS is unable to take an institutional stance on this while the state determines its own policies. However, collecting examples from or creating samples with help from library staff in the field sidesteps this difficulty. We aren't currently using AI but will consider. Will be interested in policies. For the past 3 years or so we have been using AI as a graphics design and asset tool. Primarily we use it to make posters and flyers for our events and our head of PR/Graphics Design Amy goes in and fixes minor details. As of right now we don't have any official policies for AI use at our library but will implement them in the future if needed. If you would like to see some examples of how we use AI you can visit our website at www.publiclibrary.cc. Thank you for reaching out!
